Not the one I had in the college yearbook office. But I worked on a campaign in 1985 and did constituent/fund raising letters on one with memory. I'd type in the address and it would finish the letter. But if I made a typo when I entered the letter, I had to retype the entire thing to get it right...

Hi all! Sorry, haven't been able to post lately. Family reading of LOTR finished up recently - we drew out the last couple of chapters for over a month, because we didn't want it to end. If anyone's curious, I've posted pictures of my little Tolkien fans on my profile page.

We're having a movie night tonight. LOTR, fried chicken, potato chips, grapes, and watermelon. Yum! Gonna let the little ones stay up late to get over any Ringwraith freakies they may get (wouldn't let them see it in the theatre, but since they've heard the book and have blankets to hide under, we're going to let them brave it at home.)

I'm probably the only Hobbit Holer whose never even seen the TT trailer. My PC won't handle the download, and I haven't seen a movie that's had the trailer this summer. And, I don't have DVD, so we're going to be watching the video. My biggest disappointment - just realized it's "formatted to fit TV" and not wide screen. Argh! Guess we'll lose all those panoramic scenes like the opening battle and Rivendell. Oh well. We're going to try to have DVD by November. Ciao all!

You will lose some of the panoramas I guess... but it was not that easy for me to choose between them... I have a very square TV so I lose a lot of size by choosing the wide screen, but I did...

Are any of the additional things included in the VHS? - I would have assumed they would be.

Hey, all...

Having a hectic afternoon here, trying to get documents faxed back and forth so I can start my new job at 9 am tomorrow. Afraid I'm going to have to miss the "early" chat... have to keep the phone line clear for a while. Gonna miss it quite a bit, but I'm guessing there will be other chats....

I actually haven't had time to sneak a peek at the video yet... sleeping in this morning threw off my whole schedule, and I've been trying to catch up ever since.

Our local talk radio station has a guy from Hollywood on every morning to talk about the latest releases. He said this morning that if you get the DVD you should pick up the wide screened tv on the way home...

That's a safe bet. It's kinda implausible that we'd all pick up the DVD/VHS and then stop talking about it...(I can't make the chat either)

Your movie night sounds like it will be fun!

I hadn't been able to download the TT trailer either... I've seen it a couple of times in the theater this summer, but I'm looking forward to watching the DVD, where we can stop, go back, and slow-motion scenes we want to watch more carefully!

Like the Big $10,000 flat screen one I saw at the store that the guy said I could have for $300 down?

But in seriousness... since my TV is failing... I am seriously considering that its replacement will be a wide screen.

I was a little surprised at the number of people who wouldn't be chatting tonight.

I got the wide-screen DVD... I'm a little worried how it will look on the 13" TV we have in our computer room. (Postage stamp, anyone?) I'm thinking our first viewing will have to be away from the computer, on a decent-sized TV....

Well, you would be no worse off than we have been with the other chat/views we have done... with the tiny chat screen in one corner of the monitor, and the bootleg playing in the other corner.

We have a TV/VCR combination in our kitchen that is on a respirator...when it finally goes we'll replace it with a new TV and DVD. Right now we have to watch DVD's in Corin, Jrs' room on his Playstation II.

I managed to set up my home office without a television. But having them in the other rooms does help keep the 2-year-old off my lap when I'm trying to work...
