I like to read silly stuff and news/activist stuff, and it's a royal pain in the butt to have to watch two forums to keep up on all the latests posts.
This cure is worse than the disease the whiners complain about: "Having to see posts that are dumb." They don't have to click on them and read them, it just cheeses them off to see that they exist in the first place. And now, to placate the whiners, I'm going to have to have open and refreshed umpteen windows if I like to observe more than one forum.

I still hate it....

That may not be necessary. It wouldn't be that difficult to code so that you can include both areas in your Latest Posts load.

For now I'm gonna keep the News and General forums open on separate windows on the toolbar. For the sake of cheezing the whiners in the News forums I'm keeping that window on the left.

It isn't that I think vanity posts are beneath me, I just like defaulting to only news/serious commentary. When I have extra time on my hands, I'll go searching for some lighter threads. But generally, what has made FR most worthwhile to me is the idea of one-stop shopping for all the latest news. The sheer volume of vanity replies makes that extremely difficult as of late.
Just thought I'd provide the opposing view. Regards.
