I am leaving for a while. Errands to run, and besides, I can feel my blood pressure rising. Grrr.

I can't say because I'd get banned. Really.

Does General Interest outrank General Fund?

General Interest doesn't outrank squat, Ward. As long as there is more than one forum, GI will always suck hind teat, you watch.

"OK, here is an example. Suppose that Britney Spears decides to support President Bush? Where does that go...General or News? What about commentary on Alan Keyes's show? Is that news or general? What about comments about Letterman's show when Cheney is on"flapdoodle?

Huh?
To: shetlan
It's tougher than it looks, huh?
There are days that John shoulda stayed in bed. Like today.
To: Sir Gawain
I was asked where the squeaking is coming from that's ruining the forum, and I simply replied that I am not allowed to say.
To: Cyber Liberty
John has been talking about separate forums for quite a while. This isn't a surprise.
To: Sir Gawain
Maybe not, but the total loss of "cross-forum" searching is screwed. And, warning or not, the concept is a bad one that will cost a lot of paying FReepers who find out that their threads are not "good enough" for the regular news forum, and should be relegated to the back of the bus.
Like the thread you posted about drunk chicks...

We'll have to wait and see.

Heeheehee....

I suppose. The only difficulty I see in this is that we who were happy with the way things were, and were willing to pay for it, are being trumped by a relative few whiners who don't want to be bothered with even seeing threads about drunk chicks eating moose cheese.
Until today, I thought "wait and see" was a viable option, but I'm watching the great idea that is FR being flushed down the tubes. I have to, at some point, say "Stop! This is WRONG!"
To: Cyber Liberty
The whiners must have more money. Anyway, I'm sure if it turns out bad, John can turn it off.
To: Sir Gawain
"The whiners must have more money." I don't think that's the case. They're just louder. The quiet ones will quietly take their $$ and leave. Who wants to pay $$ to be called "Stupid" and have their stuff banished to a backwater like General Interest (which was called "Chit Chat" only yesterday)?

Just for the third-parties reading this thread, let me say I've never whined to Jim or John about the forum. I just happen to agree with the changes made (although I'm sympathetic to the other side). Moreover, I donated somewhere between $50 and $1 million during the last fundraising cycle. I'm no steenkin Freeploader. ;-)
To: Cyber Liberty
I think the goofy news threads are ok over here. The political humor threads should stay in the main forum, and that's where I'll continue to post them.

Between $50 and $1 Million...good one!
Well, I didn't complain because I liked it the way it was. Now, it turns out complaints were being taken, and I, who also donated between $40 and $1 Million, was never told about it. My silence was taken not as affirmation of the way things were, but that I would be overjoyed to see the forum split up.
A hell of a way to run a railroad, if you ask me. Which nobody asked me.
