"The political humor threads should stay in the main forum, and that's where I'll continue to post them."

What will you do when the posting police start griping at you for it? If you think they won't, you're wrong.

"One man's junk is another man's treasure." You can't get away with saying, "The cheese crap's OKAY over here in the backwaters, but you better leave my political humor alone." The stuff you post is just as crappy to the finger waggers around here.

BTW, did you know that if I'm reading stuff over here, I can't see your pings to me over there?

I'll keep posting until they ban me or remove the "Political Humor" category.

did you know that if I'm reading stuff over here, I can't see your pings to me over there?

Yes.

Good luck to you, Sir. I've got "3/10/02" down as the day FR started down the toilet.

Exactly. Now if I want to browse over several threads, I'm switching back and forth to see who has pinged or responded. And let's face it - most folks on FR browse constantly and this is going to turn into a big hassle.

I agree with you, but I have no pull on this site. I do what I can.

I see a "Pray for George Bush" thread over on the "other side". Is that legitimate political news/activism?

Re; Boy, it's a good thing this didn't happen right before fund-raising week.
That's so funny, do you think it was planned that way? LOL.

RE; , separating the forum has created "Superior" and "inferior" classifications of posts, and will be the death of the place.

I disagree! Most days I go to several other news sources, then come to Free Republic because I love it, and spend the rest of my time here.
Often, I'm tired of 'news', and go to Freeper questions, or Miscellanious, always hoping to find one of those 'silly' threads that are so entertaining.
Anyone, with half a mind, can pick and choose the Forum they are interested in.

Or just pick a thread they're interested in on the same forum. Problem solved.

I am back to rant some more.

Aside from the fact that self search only works in one forum at a time, and the search function only works in one forum at a time (meaning that if you guess wrong on something like "Pray for President Bush" you will have to do TWO searches), the decisions on things like El Nino, earthquakes, pop culture information, criminal trials, live threads, etc. will have to be decided on every time anyone posts.

I also want to say that I HATE the new posting form, because it is so picky. Not only do you have to choose key words, but you have to choose what forum and this is difficult. I got so frustrated today I didn't post the President's speech, because I couldn't get it to accept my assignments, and then the system went down AGAIN.

If we are going ahead with this ill-advised venture, I want someone to post an EXPLANATION and instructions so people know how to find things. Lurkers are going to miss half of what's going on. And I think that this is really impractical.

Why couldn't we just leave things alone?

Soneone should do a cost/benefit analysis to see how many people are going to yank their FR funding over this. It appears that we have a relative few griping and relative many being forced into a forum configuration they don't like.

Re; Maybe JR will publish a book called 'FR For Dummies'. LOL!!!

That might just be one of the best ideas I've heard! With all the years of interesting 'things' on this forum, it could make a hilarious book!
