Any FR gamers out there?
— ^ | — | —

PC gamers, that is. Computer gamers, to be precise. (Not actual PC gamers. Imagine playing AD&D with a lefty with no sense of humor - ah, the horror, the horror.)

I play games, online and solo. I'd love to hook up with some FR gamers; after several none-too-fun experiences with illiterate over-testosteroned teens, I'm looking for more-or-less mature people with whom to play.

I play Diablo 2 online right now, and could be persuaded to branch out if anyone would be kind enough to recommend and guide. (I play RTS games as well; I have Civ 3, but haven't gotten into it yet, as well as Age of Empires/Kings, Majesty, the Impressions city-building series, and so on.)

So speak up, and - since I know y'all are out there - let's hook up on Battle.net for some hack 'n' slash this weekend!

And while I'm thinking about it, if someone would be kind enough to tell me how one bookmarks threads now, I'd be in your debt.

You're going to be shocked about Civilization III... it doesn't have multiplayer! Isn't that unreal? The wife and I were about to set up for a game the other night, and I told her to start a game... ten minutes later, she's asking me, "where the heck is the multiplayer game option?" Sure enough, there isn't one. Don't buy this game until they provide a multiplayer patch-- rumors are they're going to charge for a multiplayer expansion!

Well, I have been known to play The Operational Art of War.

I'm mostly a board wargamer, though.

Look at the euro symbol at an angle and tell me that it isn't the same as the Quake logo :o)

You'll be able to bookmark threads once JohnRob adds some new software stuff.

I prefer action games like Counter-Strike to mouse-clicking RPGs.

I called it quits on D2 last week.

Some jerkwad 80 lvl zon was going around suddenly going hostile and PKing normal sub 30 lvls and then talking big.

Its becoming too hard, suffering through the idiots on BattleNET games to call it fun.

Delta Force II and Delta Force Land Warrior. I like to play the co-op games (I'm not a big death-matcher).

If you haven't played Counter-Strike (www.counter-strike.net) yet you haven't played nothing yet. Tt's a modification for Half-Life AND a stand-alone game. It is by far the most popular online multiplayer game.

Return to Castle Wolfentein (about $55.00) is another good one. A fun standalone and a great multiplayer WWII simulator. Imagine being a Lt. in WWII calling in air strikes and artillary fire on the enemy. FUN!

If you got a few bucks to throw around, buy Max Payne. It's too short but the game itself is amazing.

Let's see heah . . . I have a clvl 9 Amazon named Xen (after my Renfest character), a clvl 18 barbarian named Jay-P, and a clvl 15 assassin named Dacha.

All those are solo, though. I can't for the life of me remember what my USWest and USEast character names are.

You play online much?

I played Asheron's Call when it first came out. Played it for about 9 months then sold the account on ebay.

Waited for Anarchy Online to release, bought it. Played it for about a month and a half and ran away from it. It was really bad!

Now while I'm waiting for either AC 2 or the Star Wars MMORPG to release, I'm playing Evernight. (Think of it as a jazzed up Risk.)  You make all your moves, and the board updates once a day.  Plus you have all the double dealing, back stabbing you can stand with the built in email system.  It's a lot of fun.

Just finished Max Payne.  If you haven't seen it, download the demo and try it.  It's the best looking thing out there right now, and a heckuva good ride.

I played the demo for Ghost Recon and liked it a lot as well.

Hiya Xenalyte,

I play a few games, but haven't lately because I have been too busy with a new consulting project.

I am presently playing Dark Age of Camelot, but have played Everquest, Ultima I-IX and Online, Unreal, Quake II and III, Half Life and several of their mods, my favorite being Counterstrike. I was in beta for both Anarchy Online and Asheron's Call, but never played public because they sucked. :^) I did beta for DAoC, too, but stuck around because it's pretty nice.

I played Diablo I when it first came out, but for some reason I just can't get into DII. I haven't played Age of Empires in a long time, probably 2 years ago or so. I got burned out on RTS games for the most part, primarily on AoE.

It's nice to see some gamers here on FR. Nice to know I am not alone. :^)
