Sakana Sushi Bar in Hoover said it has fired an employee who was caught on camera taking nearly a bucket full of candy on Halloween after she lied about apologizing to the homeowner.
In the video posted to Facebook, a few people can be seen walking up to a house that has left out a bucket of candy for trick or treaters.
An adult wearing a Sakana Sushi Bar shirt proceeds to grab several handfuls of candy leaving the bucket virtually empty as they walk away.
“Greedy adults stole almost the entire bowl of candy,” the post reads. “Literally left almost nothing for the children!! absolutely pathetic. Sakana Sushi Bar & Grill is this one of your employees.”
The restaurant released a statement regarding the incident but did not initially confirm if the person was an employee.
“We take this matter seriously, and we certainly do not condone behavior that takes away from children or the community,” the statement reads.
”We are looking into this and will address it appropriately if anyone associated with Sakana was involved. We value our community, our customers, and especially the families and children we serve. We would never encourage or support this kind of behavior.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.”
The restaurant confirmed to AL.com Sunday that after review it was determined that the individual that took the candy was an off-duty employee.
But a spokesperson for the business said she had since returned the candy and apologized to the homeowner, Taylor Wilson, Sunday morning.

The employee or the restaurant?
His mom?
Well, in the way wacky world of wokeness, one can “identify” as just about anything. The candy thief should identify as a Sweet Tooth, and state that she was just following her basic DNA.
C’mon, Man!
Every year, we put a big stainless steel bowl, about the size of an old dish pan, filled with little candy bars and penny Halloween candy on the table of our front porch, usually with a sign that read, “just take one or two, please”. We couldn’t personally go to the door because our two mini dachshunds are very noisy and try to get out. About three years ago, I was reading in our room, when I heard sounds of people coming up the steps to the porch. Then, I heard the unmistakable sound of the empty steel bowl rattling on the table. I jumped up and ran to the door, just in time to see a van of laughing teenagers drive off. Well, they just ruined it for everyone, because from then on, we refuse to put out candy. We buy a few little candy bar packs for the two little girls across the street and hand deliver them when they get home from school on Halloween.
Where I live it’s not like that. Even the teens are respectable and I don’t mind them trick or treating as long as that is all they do.
What I don’t like, others have complained about and it’s even in the video I posted in this thread Is how minivans come into our neighborhood full of kids that I know are not from this area.
We also have lawn care people who mow the lawn every week, and we also give them Gatorade every visit because we don't want people to collapse from dehydration in the hot/humid Houston weather while working on our property. They actually timed their route to do our property at lunchtime, so they can sit under out shade tree and eat their lunch.
One December, we saw on our camera that the lawn people also raided the treats that we left for the delivery people, so we terminated the lawn service and found a replacement.

We had a similar story on NextDoor about our neighborhood in Maricopa, AZ. The video showed an older teenaged girl emptying the entire bowl into her bag when the homeowner left to take her kids trick or treating. It was pouring down rain on Halloween so I had less than 10 kids when I usually have 30-40. I’m so over this holiday anyway so this is my last year giving out candy.
This is my first Halloween without a dog in 12 yrs & hubby was at work, so I was a little anxious about opening my door to strangers past 8 pm in the first place. Hopefully they were just there for the candy, but who knows. Hubby called me from work because he got a Wyze notification & even he was a little concerned about what he saw. Yep, definitely my last yr “celebrating” Halloween.
If they were holding a bag or more likely a pillow case of candy then they were just trick or treating. Some of those Halloween props at those specialty stores look realistic these days. Not the Ben Cooper costumes of our day.

I sympathize. When we lived in a nice subdivision in Simi Valley, hordes of kids were dropped off at the entrance. Then they worked the neighborhood for an hour or so. Finally they were picked up by the vans. Then they moved on to who-knows-where.
Rural TN now, and we’ve never had a trick-or-treater in 16 years.
If this employee was caught on camera doing this and wearing the shirt from her workplace, they have every right to terminate her. She just gave them some very bad advertising.
This story happened where I live, I keep meaning to try Sakana, but dont get the opportunity, Its too far away for lunch break.
That said, I did the travelling trick or treat thing and drove my daughter and her friend to Mountain Brook to gather their candy. It was crazy, but homeowners were out handing out candy at the curb, the whole thing was very festive, if not “profitable”—they just got 1 piece of candy per stop. I ended up buying them a bag of candy to split so it wasnt a bust. Now I know why we only get 5 to 10 trick or treaters. they all go to the “money” neighborhoods.

"Someone is always watching."
Wow! Grown-ups out stealing candy from children.
And they already had bad cases of EBT Butt!!
If only this had happened to AOC, we wouldn’t have to suffer her stupidity.

Oh right. I forgot that her co-workers hated her because she stole their tips. Later, she kicked it up a notch to steal our tax money.
I saw this on YouTube a few hours ago

I know what you mean. I live in a small town, with a lot of kids who live rural. Those kids, I don’t mind coming in by car, because they have no neighborhoods per se, so it’s the only way they can trick or treat. But there’s no reason for the town kids to do that. Also, in our town, the merchants all give candy to kids at a set time after school on Halloween.
