President Donald Trump has never been shy about sharing his opinions on the NFL. But at a campaign rally on Sunday, he took things a step further, questioning why anyone would want to watch football at all.
Speaking in Iowa ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections, Trump went on yet another rant about the NFL’s kickoff rule. He called the sport “boring as h***” and even claimed that he skips the start of games to avoid watching kickoffs.
The NFL introduced its “dynamic kickoff” ahead of the 2024 season in an effort to reduce injuries and encourage more returns. Under the format, players on the kicking team line up much closer to the receiving team, cutting down on high-speed collisions.
The rule worked well enough that the league made it permanent. But Trump has repeatedly complained about it, going back to September 2024, when he called it the “beginning of the end” for the league.
Trump was in Iowa on Sunday to campaign for Senate candidate Ashley Hinson, with the midterm elections just two days away. But as he often does, he went off on a number of tangents, including the state of football.

Ditto, Mr. President.
He must’ve watched my Sooners play.
I hadn’t watched a rally for some time and was amazed all over again. He is truly one of a kind!
At one point he said some people criticize his “rambling”. He said “This isn’t rambling...this is...genius, actually!”.
Liberals have ruined the NFL and analytics have ruined MLB and the NBA. Hopefully the Brewers have shown that small ball and fundamentals still work over swinging as hard as you can every at bat.
Football is not nearly as boring as baseball.
The best thing the Brewers did was beat the Dodgers, the series was gravy.
Analytics plus $$$$ and gambling have ruined sports for the most part.

Yes
Pros have sucked for over 20 years, college is well on it’s way.
Other than ping-pong, all sports are boring.
Grown Men in Stretchy shorts
Pating Each Other....
I’m done with That.
My love of sports, particularly college football began in 1963 when I was 12, it ended 3 years ago, both pro & college sports aren’t the same as they have been in the past; it used to be about the love of the game and playing for the fans, now it’s all about the almighty $$$ and how many endorsements deals can I get, screw all sports!

I have mixed feelings about the dynamic kickoffs, but before we just had the ball kicked out of the endzone and brought the 20 or wherever it was brought. That’s no more exciting.
My Rams have crappy special teams, so I would prefer the old system at the moment, but not because it is boring.
That is true if you don’t really watch either one. But, if you do, you know that while there is a lot more movement in football it all the same stuff, over and over back and forth and only punctuated by a few mistakes and the heavy hand of the refs.Baseball is more of a one on one battle with the combatant players changing several times each game.
Too many play reviews is slooging the Game down.
The terrible calls by the refs are not helping.

No, the Pitch clock has revitalized it.
