Ready for a mental workout? 🧠 A Cryptogram is a classic quotation puzzle frequently featured in daily publications. I source the best and most challenging ones to help keep our minds sharp and boost cognitive health!
In a Cryptogram, a single letter always stands for another letter.
(Example: AXYDLBAAXR might translate to LONGFELLOW. This is just an example and does not apply to today’s puzzle.)
If this is your first time, don’t be intimidated—the game is very addictive, and you will quickly master the technique! If you find yourself stumped, simply take a break and return to it later. ☕
Please follow these guidelines for the best experience for everyone:
Feel free to post a fun or clever clue—the more tangential to the quotation the better! Just remember that your clue must not contain the actual words of the solved quote.
Good luck, and enjoy the challenge! 🍀
Try solving this line by line....

Oh my goodness, I think this is a “pandowdy”!
Well, you do have a point here ….. it looks a lot like a morning frost ….. but my first thought (of course) was it looks like a pandowdy 🤪
Continental, in an early morning kind of way.
That’s the book the quotes is from.
I was momentarily stumped while looking for “shoe” clues...
Thank you for your consistent contributions!
My wife makes this stuff she calls Apple Paradise. Yum!
It sounds like the feminine version of one of those old hard-boiled detective novels.
MMMMM, “Shoo-Fly Pie Shoo-fly pie And Apple Pan Dowdy make your eyes light up And your stomach say howdy. Shoo-fly pie and Apple Pan Dowdy, I never get enough of that wonderful stuff.”
See my FR profile for reference. 🤪
That's exactly the song that I thought of ... you just beat me to it. I learned that song a long long time ago in elementary school, along with "Bingo was his name-oh", "Old Kentucky Home", and the now-politically incorrect "Old Black Joe" among others. The music teacher even had the so-called "cafeteria" (which was usually only used on Wednesday "Hot Dog Days") make some Shoofly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy for us to try on one of our Hot Dog Days. Ah, to be 11 again ...
