SENATOBIA, MS. (WMC) - The Senatobia police officer who shot and killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley in a Walmart parking lot in June has resigned from the force, attorneys for the Wiley family told Action News 5.
Officer Hunter Foster’s body camera footage, just released by the Mississippi Department of Pubic Safety, shows him running out of the store with other officers after a Walmart employee told him accused shoplifters were on the run. Within 13 seconds, Foster’s gun was aimed at the car with Wiley inside it. What the video shows
Body camera audio captures officers shouting “Stop the car. Stop. Stop.” as gunfire is heard along with breaking glass and screeching brakes. The car continued moving.
Three shots were fired, all from Foster’s weapon. The shots hit and injured the driver and hit and killed Wiley, who was in his mother’s arms in the front passenger seat.
Kohen Wiley’s grandmother, LaSandra Williams, said she has seen the video.
“I’m having a difficult time understanding the word justified. I just don’t understand,” Williams said. Attorneys respond
Williams, her family and their attorneys have reviewed the footage. Attorney Ben Crump addressed the shooting at a news conference on Thursday.
“America, our society must have more empathy for human life,” Crump said.
The family’s legal team said Foster has resigned from the Senatobia Police Department. Crump said he wants Foster decertified.
The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office ruled the shooting justified based on the investigation conducted by the Department of Public Safety. Attorney Van Turner said the fight for justice for Kohen Wiley is not over.
“We’re going to petition the Department of Justice to open an investigation to make sure that we get justice for this baby. It just won’t end here. We have to take it all the way to the top,” Turner said. State investigation findings
The state’s investigation found the driver drove into the officers, and the video supports that finding. Several officers drew their guns, but only one officer, Foster, opened fire.
“The bullet that killed Kohen Wiley,” said Crump, “was not justified. This decision sends a message that a Black baby boy, his life, is not as valuable as the white diapers that he is wrapped in.”
Kohen Wiley’s mother said she held her baby up in the air to show officers a child was in the car.
Action News 5 slowed multiple body cam videos down to see if it was easy to spot her and her child in the front seat, but it was not, especially given how quickly the incident escalated.

You can justifiably shoot at a car that is being used as a weapon against you. Stop with the BS liberal-speak.
“The shots hit and injured the driver and hit and killed Wiley, who was in his mother’s arms in the front passenger seat.”
It doesn’t get any more despicable than that.
In my state she more than likely would be charged with murder of that child.
State law says if someone you are with dies during a commission of a crime you are charged with murder.
Thank you. Johnny on the spot!
The cop is very minimally responsible for the child’s death. No other shots had been fired at the scene. Who ever yelled, “Stop the car” escalated the situation. and of course the baby should have not been there. What a horrible circumstance!
That’s because they chased her. If he was late with the gun, he is dead over a shoplifting charge. Screw that.
It was. There is video of the Mom and another woman doing the 50 yard dash from the store to their car. One has the diapers.
Just wow. I remember this one now.
From the video that's been released the shooting was CLEARLY justifiable. With regard to the cop, I can absolutely understand how he now questions everything he did. He didn't do anything wrong but it's going to stick with him like glue.
Doesn’t matter much, there was hardly a need for killing people, the crime or crimes could have been resolved later.
Odds are these types, the ones we always have to ask Yogi Bear about, have active warrants out on them, so yes it’s best to go after them.
It wasnt intentional. I hadnt remembered this case yet. No one was more surprised than me at what I was writing but we got to the meat of the incident.
Once again a black refusing to comply with police directions has resulted in a death.
This time a baby, and I fault the woman that was using that child as a shield 100%.
The cop did everything right.
That stupid b!tch did everything wrong.
Then Grandma gets up and makes a fool of her self in front of the camera, can’t speak English what so ever. Like she got off the plantation this morning. If her daughter could not afford diapers could she not reach into her purse 👜 and give her the money? Tell her daughter to buy cloth diapers that may be washed and refused.
“America, our society must have more empathy for human life,” Crump said.
I doubt Chump has any empathy for the families of whites randomly murdered by blacks..

The article leaves an incredibly important item out for readers.
“This story does not say the perp drove toward any officer.”

You need actually read the article before you spout off that it doesn’t say something:
Excerpt:
“State investigation findings
The state’s investigation found the driver drove into the officers, and the video supports that finding.”
I stand corrected.
In the 12th paragraph, it does say that.
Common sense, i.e. the lack of, is a fatal flaw with too many people today.
I've raised three children, and never left them in a hot car. Nor have I allowed my children to be unsupervised near a swimming pool, although I taught them how to swim by the age of 4.
The fault likes with the mother, and now they're trying to score a big lottery check.
This is really tragic, but the perpetrator needs to be charged with murder, as in any other crime which results in a death. If they had not shoplifted in the firstplace, vthen evaded, the tragedy would not have occurred. BUT, firing a weapon at shoplifters was, imo, overkill, no pun intended.
And btw, trying to make this about race is despicable!
