The January 6 Committee's Star Witness Better Have a Good Lawyer
Town Hall ^ | 10-9-2026 | Matt Vespa

Okay, she probably already has a lawyer, but the fact remains: she’ll need a good one, at least until she’s out of the woods. The Trump DOJ is moving to indict Cassidy Hutchinson for providing false testimony before Congress. She was the January 6 select committee’s star witness, a dog-and-pony show that wasted taxpayer dollars.

Hutchinson decided to spill the beans about what happened during that little riot, including a patently untrue, laughable anecdote about Trump trying to commandeer the Beast to head to the Capitol. That’s not even grounded in reality. A federal grand jury has heard evidence for charges (via Fox News):

Thank you very much and God bless you.

In my view, Cassidy’s prime-time testimony before the January 6 Committee exposed the farcical nature of the process. Rather than describing events she witnessed firsthand, she repeated what someone else told her happened in the presidential limousine that day. The committee could have called someone who was actually in the vehicle instead of relying on hearsay, but that would have blown up the con game.

Her claim that she wrote the memo appears doubtful, since the handwriting can be readily verified. In my view, she and the others acted arrogantly, assuming they would never face consequences for their criminal conduct. Proceedings in Washington, D.C., may ultimately validate that assumption, but current events do not appear to be unfolding as they expected.

”dog-and-pony show that wasted taxpayer dollars.”

It is trivial that it wasted money. What matters is that it was a successful coup.

I am not going to look all this stuff again, but if my memory serves me correctly this bimbo got corralled by the J6 committee to change her testimony. She got a new lawyer and the DC bar went after the original lawyer. Nasty stuff...

It wasn't successful, Trump got reelected again in 2024. That said, a lot of his supporters got hosed....

Yes, and we wouldn't know the truth about any of this if it weren't for the internet and alternative news. I wonder how many lies were told and never exposed before there was a mechanism to defeat the propaganda machine.

It doesn’t matter what you do to her for justice, unless it’s public execution. The democrats will make sure she is well compensated for what she did. She knew that when she made up the story.

It’s an open and shut case for sure. By all means, let’s waste time and money on some nobody while the many, many deep-state criminals skate.

What a sad joke.

Maybe she’ll squeal on the people who orchestrated her false testimony and provide the ‘receipts.’ Rarely are the crime bosses at top convicted of anything unless there are some underlings providing testimony in exchange for a more lenient sentence. I hope that’s the plan here, but I’m not holding my breath.

Yep and I do believe she will spill those beans to open up additional inquiry into the J6 committee.

I am deeply disappointed by that what I have seen so far from the Pubs for payback. Of all the people, law firms, organizations and institutions that waged lawfare against Republicans, Trump and his family this is the best you can do? As the old Wendy's ad used to ask: "Where's the meat?" In the big scheme of things this girl is a nothingburger.

What fear do the dems have of doing that again? None whatsoever. Use their tactics against them: "Show me the man, I'll show you the crime" and "they send one of yours to the hospital, you send one of theirs to the morgue."

Do not go after people who got a Biden pardon. You're never going to get past it. Not only is it performative (I do love that word, it has replaced Kabuki in my vocabulary) theater, it's boring performative theater.

Put really smart attorneys on bringing people in to venues not in DC, Northern VA, SDNY, MA or the like. If the SPLC had been smart enough to incorporated in DC instead of AL they'd be off scot free today.

The way the Pubs handled this so far they might as well have sent a sternly worded complaint.
