Living here in Florida, Amendment 3 is the big one and will bring out the voters.
Most of the city and county governments including the Sheriffs in Florida are claiming that passing Amendment 3 will be Armageddon for them as they will face massive budget cuts. They are running TV Ads everywhere.
The problem is the city and county governments around Florida have seen a gusher of money in the last few years with rising property values because of all the people moving to Florida and they been on a spend spree like you can’t imagine.
I wasn’t happy that the legislature didn’t put forward what DeSantis requested. DeSantis said that many cities and counties had been audited and he believed that the property tax amendment didn’t go far enough.
But this is a substantial decrease in property taxes and lowering the amount the counties can raise it annually from 10% to 5% will help keep the taxes down.
They can’t cut police, fire, and education.
This a BS ploy to scare the uninformed voters.
