Hilarious. The preying mantis is my favorite, with the orangutan a close second.

preying mantis is my favorite

I usually don't nit-pick about spelling since I make plenty of typos myself, however....although "preying" mantis would be a more appropriate name (since they're predators), the actual term is "praying" mantis, since their pose reminded someone of a person in prayer. The same mistake appeared in the gallery - one of my pet peeves since I've always been interested in insects.

In any case, my favorite photo was the seemingly suicidal squirrel that decided to jump on a great horned owl. I doubt that the encounter ended well for the squirrel, since squirrels are very much on the owl menu.

the praying preying mantis is a very friendly bug!
I was sitting outside my motel room one night and one approached me.
The thing started to hang out with me for a couple of hours while i drank a few beers.
(i’m talking a bug here not some skank)
at one point he accidentally slipped off of my leg and hit the concrete with a thud i could hear. he get’s up all wobbly then climbs back up for a short nap.
i wanted to take him home with me... :)
