Military units will conduct a one-day voting stand-down in each election year. Service members can use the time to mail absentee ballots or vote in person.

More than 418,000, or 23%, were NOT registered to vote in 2024, per the Federal Voting Assistance Program.

Nearly three-quarters of active-duty members are eligible to vote absentee because they live more than 50 miles from their registered voting address.

I've always felt Trump should give our military members a direct order to vote. Sure it would be illegal but I'd enjoy watching the left's reaction.

This is much better. I anyone who was ever stationed at a base in a purple state could reregister there and tip the scales. Add to that the 418,000 potential new voters getting 'encouraged' by their peers in the military environment. Southern red states contribute more people to the armed forces. Their votes could be transferred to other states. It's TACTICS, something the military can understand but political activists in the GOP don't.

**”We’re not telling you who to vote for, but we will give you every opportunity to do so,” Hegseth said in a video released Friday.**

This is the beauty of it. Democrats despise the military. Their objections won’t have a leg to stand on. They’ll bring up potential John Birch/KKK political activity on military bases and they will get laughed at. In the meantime those that don’t vote will be influenced on the lowest levels where stealth conversations over a beer are more discreet.

I hope this doesn’t backfire. The assumption is everybody in the military votes conservative but there are more lefties than most people realize.

I think its a great idea.

Ex-military here,,,,sure there are lots of lefties, especially after the Obama and Biden administrations and their DEI/Woke policies caused many to leave.

However, I am confident there is a higher percentage of conservatives in the military than liberals.

Most liberals and far lefties absolutely despise the military and never would have joined in a volunteer force.

Well, large parts of the Union armies were given leave to go home and vote in 1864 and even with popular with the Army McClellan as the Democrat candidate the Army voted GOP.

Hopefully that’s a precedent today’s Army repeats.

From ChatGPT…….

Pew Research Center data (2024) shows:
• 63% of veteran voters identify with or lean Republican. • 35% identify with or lean Democratic.

This pattern has held across recent elections: veterans backed Trump over Harris ~61%–37% in 2024 polling, similar to 2020 (~60%–39%) and 2016 (~61%–35%).

Older Gallup data (around 2009) found veterans/active-military roughly 34% Republican, 29% Democratic, and 33% Independent (vs. more Democratic-leaning non-veterans).

You can get the effect more easily. Those who will vote by mail or in person get a receipt proving they voted, even an affidavit could do if the penalty for a misstatement is penalized properly.

Those who voted get comp time, those who don't have extra duties.

WHY CANNOT POLLS BE USED IN MILITARY BASES?????

THAT MAKES NO SENSE.

THE MILITARY CAN BUILD BRIDGES OVER THIN AIR & FLY ANYTHING EXTREMELY WELL.

THEY CERTAINLY CAN BUILD TEMPORARY POLLING STATIONS

Way back during the 1972 elections, I was at Danang. I received my general election ballot in January of '73.

I always suspected that was because I wasn't registered as a democrat in a state where everybody voted for a D no matter what.

Having the military guarantee that a member's vote counts is a good thing.

Collin Rugg 10/3/2026 X post:

“Secretary of War Pete Hegseth drains 9 out of 10 three-point shots after a workout.

Hegseth played basketball for Princeton University from 1999-2003. In high school, he set the school record for most career three-point shots.

Impressive.”

Do recall that in the 2000 election of George W Bush vs Al Gore, the Dems did what they could to disqualify and eliminate Military mail-in ballots. This went to court who found in favor of our Military ballots, leading Bush to win Florida by 537 votes, and thus the Presidency.

I knew some lefties when I was in the USAF, but I'd say not a majority.

I do love the fact that Pete Hegseth is rooting out the woke nonsense and cross-dressers as I do suspect that the left just loathes the Military.

Data and academic studies on the military often show that political attitudes can vary notably depending on whether a service member is in a combat role (like infantry) versus a support or administrative role.

“Loathing the military” is one of Bill Clinton’s most famous quotes!

…..Hillary was hardly enamored of the military either…..lol….

Buzz Patterson ( Clinton’s football carrying military aide) said she did not want the military to wear uniforms around the White House.

**Most liberals and far lefties absolutely despise the military and never would have joined in a volunteer force.**
Anyone remember the story of democrat operatives doing high fives with every overseas military ballot getting disqualified? How about the governor who called up their state national guard on election day? If so two can play this game.**

**I am confident there is a higher percentage of conservatives in the military than liberals.**
The key is the career NCO. They are the backbone of the services who buy into the American mission while officers play politics.

…..Hillary was hardly enamored of the military either…..lol….
This is the way to call them out. Same with the $1776 Trump gave the service members. If Biden can cancel loans despite the SCOTUS rulings we can do the same with our supporters. Defense budget cuts, covid jabs under duress. Point up how enlistments went up under Trump.

Everyone could vote, but when the ballots arrive at many clerk’s office they will be $hitcanned and not counted as in the past.

You are Fu--ing NUTS.

All of my family, is, or has been in the military, my son spent 26 years in the Navy, came out as a Captain, and would have stayed longer, but he couldn't take the creature from Africa.

75-80% of all enlisted are conservative, officers are similar but I'm not sure that the % is that high.

Even with the trans and other fags that have infested the military, the ratio is not even close.

“I think its a great idea.”

Could be. But in all the years I’ve been attached and retired from the US military I always had the opportunity to vote.

Perhaps it mght be a better idea to keep an eye on the states and how they treat military votes coming in from overseas as some states have taken efforts to stop them.

Florida law required overseas ballots to be postmarked by Election Day. However, because federal law allows military personnel to send mail postage-free, the Army Post Office (APO) and Fleet Post Office (FPO) frequently neglected to stamp physical postmarks on the envelopes. Even though these service members used the correct military mail channels, their ballots initially lacked the physical proof of timing required by state law.

A subsequent New York Times investigation revealed that hundreds of ballots arrived in Florida bearing domestic postmarks from U.S. military transit hubs (like Norfolk, VA or San Diego, CA). Because the military postal system often routes overseas mail through domestic hubs where it receives its first official U.S. Postal Service stamp, many valid overseas votes looked as though they had been mailed from inside the United States.

So even though they went through the USPS system and were recognized as military personnel voting, they were disallowed to be used.

State data released by U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell and Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs revealed that 20,267 mail-in ballots were rejected for late postmarks during the August primary election, marking a 32% increase compared to the 2024 primary.

In 2004, eletions wee tossed by the state from overseas areas due to arriving late and were still refused during the many recounts they had. The reason they were late was because the state got them out too late to get back for the original election.

There are ways.

Agreed. But I do think a segment of the military is apolitical, and this should motivate them to vote, and many will be influenced by their peers who are mostly traditional (i.e. conservative). If some punk leftist officer tells them to vote for trans/fag/DEI it will backfire.
