Not really, it’s DECADES of Republican voters sitting our elections (to let Democrats win), because the Republican they were stuck voting for wasn’t ‘pure enough’ for their tastes.
I had long ago heard that our refinery situation was a large bottleneck in this country. How do you get someone geared up up to do something about it? We have the oil, but apparently can’t get it refined in a timely & satisfactory fashion. If this has gone on since ‘77 why hasn’t someone been working on the problem? We surely have someone in DC who looks at these problems, so why aren’t they working on it? Good grief! 1977 was almost 50 years ago! I sense that someone in our bureaucracy is getting paid, but just not doing the work.

Or, they want to “punish” Republicans by voting Democrat.
I’m hearing this for the upcoming mid-term elections, and for POTUS in 2028, over things like high gas prices and the war in Iran.
As if Democrats are going to fix things and not make them worse (such as high gas prices, which they agree with).
You rarely, if ever, hear of Democrats doing this.
Not just CaCaLand, all of the West coast guv’nas have shut down refineries. What the arseholes did not note was that there are limited pipelines running parallel to the coast. Not enough to supply any oil fuel — even if CaCaLand was willing to ship it to them.
All have sold their souls to the CCP for imported oil — Iranian oil laundered thru West pacific ocean countries. But, Iran is not shipping oil to the CCP any longer, so all prices are spiking all along the coast.
Just like the EU when they went to a proxy war with Russia — just after making themselves dependent on Russian oil production and distribution.
No its NIMBY’s that are responsible, along with environmentalists who sue to block any progress. They are still active today blocking data centers and gas electrical plants.
