QThestormThey parked $2 billion in a fund called Medicare Improvement and never sent a dollar to a senior.
Created in 2008. Every president since left it sitting there. The White House says no administration has ever used it.
Trump just did.
Direct deposit. Early October. More than 20 million people on Medicare Part B. Dual eligibles whose premiums Medicaid already covers, and high earners paying the income surcharge, do not get it.
He called it what Congress treated it as. A slush fund. Named for Medicare. Used as an offset for everything except the people in the name.
Eighteen years on the shelf. The money moves within days.
They will call it a bribe for the next 31 days. Ask them what the fund was for.

Paying down the debt would be proper.
But it is an election year, we need to purchase some votes.
Established in 2008, no Administration has ever utilized or made payments from the Medicare Improvement Fund.
Previous Congresses used the Medicare Improvement Fund in ways that increased healthcare costs for the American people, such as when Democrats raided $20.7 billion from the fund as part of the Unaffordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
President Trump believes that Medicare Improvement Funds should be used to directly help people on Medicare, not special interests, and is returning healthcare dollars back into the hands of the American people to benefit them and their individual healthcare needs.
don’t think it is vote buying when you expose the evilness and then give it back to the people
I made a mistake, rolled over some sum to Roth, little bit too much.
And was hit by huge Medicare surcharge!
I guess that money is going to that slush fund?!
I believe I will object to that. The money was authorized for people on Medicare. Use it for that.
Allocated by Congress for Medicare.
$100 here, $100 there, $100 everywhere... fa la la.
Has the $2bil collected any interest since 2008?
That's what I wonder. Surely it must have, and where did it go?
