The midterm elections are a month away, and I would like to ask a favor: Please make sure that you vote. Please encourage your friends and family to vote. We need all the help that we can get.
Perhaps you feel that voting is a useless exercise that exists to legitimize bad outcomes — a way of forcing citizens to accept responsibility for things they did not do. “You get the government you vote for,” we often hear, but that’s not exactly true. Unelected bureaucrats and judges from unaccountable agencies and Constitution-subverting courts give us a lot of government that none of us want! “If voting made a difference, it would be illegal,” the old saw goes. There’s probably a layer of truth in that hunk of ore.
But voting can make a difference! We’ve seen what a difference it can make over the last ten years!
There’s no way in Hades that the powers that be wanted President Donald J. Trump in office. Bill Kristol and all of the “conservative thought leaders” in his orbit worked to elect Hillary Clinton back in 2016. Duplicitous Mitt Romney delivered one of the most hateful anti-Trump screeds on national television that year. Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan advised fellow lawmakers not to say anything positive about Trump heading into the general election. Economists predicted that a Trump victory would send the country into a depression. Retired generals predicted that Trump would lead the country into WWIII. Political marketing firms and campaign consultants essentially blacklisted anybody who considered working for the Republican nominee. The only places you could find anything positive about his candidacy were rebellious publications such as this one!
Boy, oh boy, when Trump won, you could almost see the Deep State Establishment melting in real time.

I despise the GOP. Thune and the Senate are bunch of gaslighting con men stealing our tax dollars and getting rich with their democRAT buddies. He is counting on the RATS being too radical so we keep them in charge of the gravy train. Will I vote, yes. But refuse to vote for my GOP Congressman. He betrayed us on COVID vac database, 100s of millions of our hard earned money to Ukraine. He has become a denizen of the swamp. We have critical State elections for judges with radical RAT judge on the ballot. So I will vote. Then take a shower.

This has been a long standing debate here on Free Republic.
Many Freepers express the idea, that you shouldn’t just vote for the Republican, because most Republicans are too liberal for us. According to that school of thought, why vote for a liberal REPUBLICAN, when we are conservative? And we want conservatives.
Some Freepers say you should either sit out the election , or vote Democrat to punish the Republican party for not giving us conservative enough candidates.
In my opinion, those battles should be fought in the primary, and strong conservative candidates ought to run in primaries. But if a more liberal Republican is the choice of Republicans primary voters, what’s a good Freeper to do?
When you get to the general election, we have a binary choice. Most of us don’t have a choice of voting for a strong Free Republic type conservative Republican candidate. And that is frustrating.
I agree with the idea that it’s better to have a do nothing. Republican congress, than a Democrat one, because by virtue of being in power, a do nothing Republican Congress blocks the Democrats, from doing God knows what they would like to do,if they had power.
I know there’s been a long standing debate here with frustration about Republicans in Congress, who are too liberal to suit us. To me, a partial answer to that would be recruiting good conservative candidates to run in Republican primaries, so that a certain number of those will win primaries and become the general election candidate for the GOP.
Your approach leads only to Democrat power. Is that what you want? Apparently strategic planning isn’t a skill for you.
Give GOP record-breaking mid-term election wins for Trump’s legacy.
We don’t need to win or want to. What we need is to stick to our “purity” refuse to vote for those who didn’t give us 100% of what we want. And where our preferred candidates were primaried out, we need to throw our support to the other side.
And afterwards these cultist America First MAGA bots can finally be shown the disaster that we always told them Trump was and is.
Back to the civilized and more dignified leaders like W and the late great John McCain. It’s time to take this Party back to reasonableness. We need to govern and you can’t do that by standing up to the other side 24/7. Sometimes, you have to compromise with the democrats.*

But after they won, they instantly went into “bi-partisan” mode in the name of getting their payola. The democrats aren’t all wrong, the country is declining, the Romney wing just thinks it can manage the decline better.
Even if the commie trash repeat what they did in 2020 (i.e., blatantly print out ballots filled out by DNC) if the polls are swamped with legit ballots the lie cannot be sustained.
But, the problem has always been the fat arsed “conservative” clowns who will not vote ‘cause “so&so said something I didn’t like so I am not voting”. They are the problem with sustaining civilization.
You are the prime example why NC is in trouble.
The MAGA team is a COALITION. We do not all agree on everything. Some on the team think every play should be a touchdown pass. Some think every play should be the halfback over left tackle. Some think the defense is useless if they don’t create a turnover on every play.
Get with it. The team is a team for a reason. The game is not one play.
