CAVE CREEK, Ariz. - Matthew Ammel, the former bodyguard to ex-Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, is accused of entering her Cave Creek home while she was out of town and causing more than $200,000 in damage, according to a probable cause statement.
What we know:
According to court documents, the incident occurred Aug. 30, but Sinema did not report it to deputies until Sept. 3.
Sinema told deputies Ammel demanded she post a video to her X account and threatened to damage her paintings every 10 minutes if she did not. The probable cause statement says Sinema did not post the video and Ammel then removed about 22 paintings from the walls and threw them into the backyard pool.
The combined reported value of those paintings was $123,015, according to deputies.

We live about 2 miles from “Old Town” Cave Creek. The place is still pretty much a cowboy town with many horse, cattle, and bison ranches. No traffic lights; no flock cameras (they were vandalized as fast as they went up, and so the town canceled the contract). People still ride their horses and tractors to the local saloons — There are many, including two biker roadhouses (Sonny Barger of Hell’s Angel’s fame lived in the area for many years); and two cowboy honky-tonks, that attract big crowds for live music and just about any NFL/NCAA football game worth watching. Most of the people who live here are very conservative.

Yes it is. Sinema allegedly paid $2 million for her Cave Creek house about a year ago, which sounds like a lot, but is an average priced house up here. The big question is where does a career politician who does not have a monied background come up with $2 million to buy and furnish a house that size?

Judge Howard Manning said $40,000 of the award was to punish John C.S. Breitner, who is chairman of the department of mental hygiene at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, for committing adultery with the wife of Duke professor George Gopen.
``This is North Carolina,’’ Manning wrote in his decision Wednesday. ``In North Carolina, one does not engage in sexual intercourse with another person’s spouse knowing that he or she is married.’’
But Manning ruled against Gopen on a claim that Breitner had alienated the affections of his former wife, Gillian Einstein, and thus wrecked Gopen’s marriage of more than 16 years.
Manning noted in his decision that all the parties to the lawsuit — Breitner, Gopen and Einstein — are graduates of Harvard University.
``These acts of adultery occurred in an academic atmosphere, with trappings of fine wine, romantic lunches, classical records and CDs, cerebral conversations and within an environment self-perceived as highly cultured,’’ he wrote.
Despite the trappings, Manning said the adulterous conduct was ``common as pig tracks,’’ a term he defined as ``low-life’’ behavior.”
Cool to hear. Thanks for the info. When I go down to Phoenix these days it’s like I’m on a different planet. It’s a shame what happened to Phoenix, Tucson, Prescott and Flagstaff. I used to love that state. Tourists have destroyed Grand Canyon, IMHO.

We live 35 miles from Central Phoenix. Might as well be 350 miles. North Phoenix is growing fast, however — no thanks to the $250 billion Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company — but so far, the influx has not bled into Cave Creek — yet.
