Hayden Panettiere allegedly previously overdosed and secretly entered rehab weeks before her drug-related death at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina, on Aug. 16.
On Wednesday, Page Six obtained a more detailed report by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, which stated that either Brian or Zach Hickerson (the name was redacted) claimed Panettiere had “a long history of drug, alcohol and nitrous oxide abuse” and that he “has had to administer Narcan to the decedent before.”
Narcan is an emergency medication used to reverse opioid overdoses.
One of the two brothers also claimed the actress “was in a drug rehab facility in Malibu, California, up until a few weeks ago.”
According to the report, Panettiere’s father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed that his daughter “had recently been released [from] rehab” in “Malibu.” He said she spent “two or three weeks” at the treatment facility.
Skip, 67, explained that Hayden “struggled with addiction since her early 20s and [had] been in multiple rehab facilities since that time.”
He also noted his daughter “suffered from postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter,” Kaya, 11, and said her “addiction issues … escalated since then.”
The grieving dad — who also lost his son, Jansen Panettiere, in February 2023 — made sure to stress that Hayden’s relationship with on-off boyfriend Brian, 37, had been “nothing but troubled.”
The newly released findings by the coroner’s office, on which TMZ was first to report, included previously unknown details about the day the “Heroes” star died at age 36.

Yet one more starlette who was likely sexually abused as a child and then spiraled into drug addiction and mental health collapse. It’s a story continuously repeated in Hollywood.
I’m glad such problems have never touched you or your family. Count your blessings for you are truly blessed.
Her problems with alcohol and drugs were lonstanding. That might have destroyed her in any walk of life; there’s nothing special about celebrity junkies except that they destroy themselves in an environment that puts them in a spotlight.
And the nature of the acting world puts people in a pressure cooker: high stress; pervasive uncertainty with extreme ups and downs; constant rejection; gig work and always hustling for the next role; extreme asymmetries in power between the producers and directors and everyone else that empowers predators, etc.
The majority of people in the industry aren’t crazy. They set boundaries. But the casualty rate is unusually high.
Yep. Addiction can befall “regular” people frequently but I just think that industry and environment exponentially increases and exacerbates it.
I think if Hayden was just a run of the mill cute girl who went to school and got a regular job, living a normal life, the chances of her being with us today would be much, much greater.
