Haven’t watched it, but having lived elsewhere in Asia, I assume most of the television drama produced by state-run Arab regimes is formulaic, propagandistic, low-budget and dull
I also imagine Arabs will keep the local-media TV schlock on the background, but many will be attracted to a drama with genuine, complicated and deep characters, real emotion, believable story lines and well-written dialogue - even if it is about “the enemy.”
I was surprised at how well done Turkish shows are, they now usually play them on the Spanish networks dubbed in Spanish, but you can get English subtitles.
