I don’t think they have mercury as they are Diodes, like little electronic faucets. but mostly you can change the colors on them to match the yellow spectrum like the incandescent bulbs. The old florescent lights had issues as well due the emitting spectrum.
An LED is just a bit of wire in a blob of plastic. They are in everything you have from cars to electronics to toys.
