Why would anyone want to hitch themselves to an entity that is circling the drain? As the old say goes...America innovates, China replicates, the EU regulates and stagnates. It’s like wanting to board the Titanic after she struck the iceberg. 20 years ago the EU GDP was 90 percent of ours. Today it’s 70 percent. The EU is deindustrializing and their fixation with green energy is going to destroy them.
Attempting to attract (and tax) far flung countries is an attempt to keep their juggling balls in the air. They will fail, eventually.
Then, maybe it's war time to further reset & oppress their populations.
