Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) has taken direct aim at President Donald Trump and his immigration crackdown in a new re-election ad, warning that the Hispanic voters who helped return him to the White House in 2024 now feel “betrayed.”
The congresswoman, who endorsed Trump in 2024 and urged Hispanic voters to back him, delivered the unusually direct message to the president as she campaigns for another term in her Miami-area district.
“Mr. President, some of your immigration enforcement efforts have gone too far. In July, 50% of the 50,000 people that were detained had no criminal record. Be careful what your advisors are telling you about immigration policy. The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today,” she warned in the ad.
She continued: “You can be for immigration what [Abraham] Lincoln was for slavery and [Ronald] Reagan was for communism. I’m not talking about giving them amnesty. I’m talking about giving them a dignified life in this promised land.”
NEW: Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) just rolled out a straight to camera ad breaking with Trump.

The video comes weeks before the November midterm elections, when Salazar will face Democratic nominee Eliott Rodriguez in Florida’s 27th Congressional District. Salazar won the Republican primary in August.
Salazar has otherwise been an ally of Trump. She endorsed his 2024 campaign and Trump gave Salazar his “Complete and Total Endorsement” in February.

I knew a Hispanic with a green card and he’s now a citizen. He’d get spitting mad about illegals. He said, approximately, who do you think they rob and rape? They go after other Hispanics. Not citizens because they’ll get in trouble. They think another Hispanic won’t dare report them. They take jobs at a fraction the going rate and I can’t get a job at the same place unless I tell them I’m illegal because they don’t follow the laws. They under pay and over work.

I’ve worked with several immigrants in the past - all Naturalized. Security clearance required citizenship.

Hispanics, along with a big portion of Trump’s coalition, feel betrayed not because of immigration, but because of the other things Trump ran on. Namely, affordability and no forever wars. Which are directly linked to each other. Slazar is just another lame RINO, good to be done with her.

Think about the responsibilities of citizenship. There is a lot of work to do in our society. I discuss heavenly citizenship as well as American citizenship as much as I can.
She won the district by 21 points in 2024; Trump won it by 15.
This is a sign of how far Latinos are disaffected with Republicans and doesn’t bode well for Texas.
