Sometimes I feel like a frog that’s getting boiled. The temperature keeps going up slowly, so I’m not really provoked to jump out of the pot.
Just now, in the California gulag, a law was enacted to forbid the watering of “decorative” grasses, regardless of drought conditions. But it’s okay. We’ve become sort of used to it.
My sense of self-worth, however, resents being told what to do with my water. Sometimes I think of sustaining other non-essential plants...and even taking a shower or washing dishes. But the self-anointed geniuses have already enacted a statute that limits household daily water consumption to 55 gallons per resident for “internal” use, not including landscape irrigation. Since nobody knows how many residents are at any particular address, let alone what water is used indoors versus in the garden, the same “rulers” put the burden of enforcement on the local water districts. Thus far, such authorities have looked the other way.
All this has been done in order to compensate for avoiding the most obvious way of dealing with this issue: increasing reservoir storage capacity and building coastal desalination plants next to nuclear power generating facilities, as has been done near Carlsbad.
Why are we being governed by such stupid jerks? Answer: because we allow it.
What seems to be all too obvious is that people go into politics not to faithfully serve their neighbors, but to lord it over them, since they think they know better how we should live our lives than we do. This opinion of mine was seriously reinforced by a chance encounter I had with a candidate for my county’s superintendent of schools. I took this opportunity to advocate for the abolition of government-run schools in favor of voucher-subsidized competitive schools vying for parents’ choice.

Many democRAT politicians across the country get their ideas from what is done in California.
How many 'gulags' could someone just walk out of if they wanted to do so?
One of the reasons for federalism was that each state could become its own laboratory, trying out ideas which, if successful, could be emulated by others. The left has turned this reason on its proverbial head: the more unsuccessful, useless, and destructive an idea tried by a particular blue state is, the more likely all the other blue states will emulate it, thereby causing the acceleration of destruction.
It is truly amazing (and disgusting) how many in the US put up with so much BS...let alone those who support it.

College education could be such that most recent college graduates are trained and legally qualified to teach in public schools.
Another possibility is to let prospective independent qualified teachers get a classroom if they can get enough children to fill a classroom.
Parents, children and prospective independent qualified teachers might have job fairs by grade in the summer.
My name is Miss Purdy. I graduated from Elite University with a degree in English Literature. I love kids and I want to give them the finest possible fourth grade education....
Obnoxious California government has sent Californians scampering to other parts of the country where they bid up housing prices beyond what long-time residents earning local wages and salaries can afford.
Obnoxious California government has had a severe impact on interstate commerce.
One goal of the Left is to lower the standard of living in America.
It is "allowed" by illegals voting, homeless given a cigarette or a couple dollars to vote Democrat, idiots who support incompetent Gavin Newsom - and mass vote fraud via mail-in ballots.
That's how it is allowed.
Re: How Spencer Pratt got knocked out of the mayoral race.
Extremists have taken over both parties. And those extremists on the left and right are closer to each other than they are to the more center parts.
Extremists are all about politics, it’s their life, while the rest of us focus on our careers and our families.

Muslim voucher schools are an immigration problem. They are not a voucher problem.
A good early example is laughing and rolling one’s eyes at “affirmative action” quotas and static physical structures in lieu of “Ring button for assistance” signs to accommodate disabled patrons.
