President Donald Trump’s Department of Commerce is seeking to significantly change the 2030 Census by excluding illegal aliens and foreign visitors from the count so that apportionment of congressional districts is more accurate.
This week, the Trump administration issued a proposed federal rule to exclude illegal aliens from the census when deciding how many congressional seats a state secures. The number of congressional seats a state has also determines how many Electoral College votes each state gets in presidential elections.

As an uneducated deplorable my first reaction is....Why in the world would they be counted to begin with????????
They should be counted for the census. They should not be included for congressional apportionment.
They should be counted for the census because census figures are used for myriad purposes other than apportionment. It is kinda, sorta important to know how many people actually live in a given area.
Congressional apportionment, however, should be based on citizens.

Every 900,000 is a Congress person.
That is why illegals should not be counted for congressional reapportionment.
But census data is used for myriad other purposes as well, and a total nose count is needed.
The Bureau of the Census is one of the pillars of the federal data system. Congressional reapportionment is the reason it was established in the constitution, but it has grown far beyond that.
Not if they are counted the same as citizens. If they were labeled properly, i.e., illegals, transients, visitors, etc. and counted separately then titled in with citizens fur accounting purposes, maybe. That is a big maybe.
