Swedish Liberals rise to 5.8 percent

The Liberals continue to rise in public opinion, according to new figures from Novus published by GP and TV4.

With their election on Sunday, the ruling right of center coalition has mostly closed the gap between them and left of center + center opposition. This is the second Novus poll showing a small, "margin of error" gap.

The ruling coalition consists of four parties: (1) the Moderates [center-right), (2) the Christian Democrats (also center-right), (3) the Liberals (market-liberals; maybe you can say "classical liberal" or quasi-libertarian) and (4) the Swedish Democrats (populist-right).

It is important that the Liberals fetch at least 4 percent (the threshold at the national level), for the right-of-center coalition to have a realistic chance of retaining power.
