Wokism is what comes from taking the equality thesis seriously, given a background of Christian morality. If you assume that all human populations have literally the same distribution of innate ability, it follows that all group differences in outcome must be the result of environmental factors. Suppose you truly believe that African Americans and Chinese Americans would on average be equally good at math and equally likely to run afoul of the law if only they were treated the same. With the right intervention, Nigeria could become like Korea, and our inner cities could be transformed into Silicon Valleys—or at least Koreatowns. The persistence of race differences in income, IQ, education, health, crime rates, etc., almost all disfavoring blacks, triggers an increasingly hysterical effort to find and correct the environmental cause...
Both the mainstream left and right accept the empirical premise upon which wokism is based, namely, the equality thesis. Smart people are more likely to correctly determine that, given equality, wokism follows. Mainstream rightists, in contrast, supposedly believe in equality, but they fail to recognize its implications...
Mainstream conservatives are unable to effectively push back against wokism because they accept the premises—both empirical and moral—that entail it. If it were true that the races were on average psychologically equal, the best explanation for disparities would be the continued existence, or the legacy, of white racism. For this reason, intelligent people tend to choose wokism over mainstream conservatism...
There is no way to argue effectively against those who call for drastic measures to equalize group outcomes unless you can say that those outcomes reflect natural differences. Within every institution, the ratchet goes one way: toward more wokism.

When The Bell Curve came out, the authors were denounced as racists. That was easier than trying to disprove what they said.

Capitalism built on the European trading and banking networks developed over centuries by the Italian city states and then others. When the English East India Company launched in 1600 without assistance from any great lord of the realm, it signaled the growing independence of the bourgeoisie from feudalism and a capacity for commercial law and self-organization seldom found anywhere else. Finally the discipline of the factory-- getting up on time and working according to the clock's and the machine's schedule or starve to death-- brought us an extraordinarily orderly and wealthy society.
The failures we see around us are a product of the societal lassitude brought about by wealth, which also subsidizes the vain and utopian ideals of the elites who promote greater social disorder in the name of "compassion".

I think a lot of people are less intelligent than they could be or should be. There is a lot of unrealized potential that is wasted.
That said, how smart does a person have to be? Making it in the top 100 in chess may be on a par with making it into the top 100 in baseball, but in both cases, so what? I know someone who scored 800 on verbal and math and did not amount to much. Doing well on trivia night is fine but ...
Some thinkers and doers have made great contributions. I think they have positive attributes besides intelligence. Drive for one.
However, we needn’t strive to be another Elon Musk. It’s good enough to be a good provider and family man.
Intelligence and training are very different.
You can train flatworms. When you do that, do they become more intelligent?
I’ve been training doctors since I was trained myself. People of a number of different IQ levels can be successfully trained. But the further down the scale someone is, the harder they have to work and the more effort it is for them to retain information.
And it is not the case that the most intelligent ones make the best doctors. High IQ does not confer good character nor good work habits. Super-smart medical students can get away with things more ordinary ones can’t.
It is probably true that the IQ band for doctors is more like 110-140+, and that people in the 90-110 band are going to struggle.
But the evidence that you can “train” an IQ of 90 up to 110 by requiring Algebra II in high school is, well, nonexistent.
I’m answering NO. Stupidity cannot be trained. Neither can intelligence. Knowledge or ignorance, wisdom or whatever you call its opposite can be (and are) trained.
Ignorance is curable; not much you can do about stupidity.

There is plenty of evidence for this (such as a 30 point increase in IQ among Poles over a couple generations). Culture and education matter in innumerable ways when it comes to cultivation and expression of intelligence. The irony about racists like this OP is that they are invariably the most stupid people around.
A lot of that had to do with the Germans and Russians exterminating the smartest Poles during WWII. They had nowhere to go but up.
Mea Culpa, I provided responses before reading the article. Now that I’m reading the article, I find it interesting. There is some good information and a few things to think about. Still, there is as much to object to, as to agree with.
It’s true that a Republican said that he was a member of the stupid party. That’s only half the story. He said he was not a member of the evil party.
I asked my father, a university professor, why so many University professors were liberal. He told me they could not understand why someone who owned a car dealership made more money than they did. With a lifetime in academia, and only academia, these people probably tested well, even if they are mediocre thinkers.

Often true, but there are contrary examples. Two of the smartest and best people I have known were well-educated black people who rose from humble origins during the days of segregation. Similarly, Ben Carson and his brother grew up in Detroit but their illiterate single mother worked three jobs, scorned the dysfunction of the ghetto, and strictly insisted on education and good behavior from her sons.
There’s surely more to civilizational advancement than IQ. Curiosity, prudent risk-taking and the ability to delay gratification are also important. I believe these factors are mediated by, among other things, testosterone. Testosterone also plays out in group differences: blacks higher than whites; whites, higher than north-east asian.
I guess you know but, just to be clear, that is his point.

What do those issues have to do with predestination?
The concept of predestination implies a nullification of discernment when we are faced with a difficult choice; it provides an excuse to bail.
For Christians, God our Creator has blessed humanity with a conscience and the ability to distinguish between right and wrong.

That’s quite a stretch even for modern thinkers under the influence of propaganda to believe; political power so continuous it would enable politicians to shape a world that survived powerful resets for almost two millennia and still have the same core problems that stretched back to ancient Greece?
Looking back 2,000 years I’d say Plato’s Academy was hijacked by that entity that comes to mind when we consider who it is that’s hell bent on subverting Gods’ creations.
Does anyone really believe politicians, proven believers of the church of the here and now, the one that has only one precept, 'what’s in it for me?’ and who trust Mephistopheles to be their choir director, do people really believe they control the reins of human development? Politicians are the reins and reins respond to whoever is holding them. WOKE might have been delivered by politicians and academics but the designer has been around a lot longer.
