People confuse Democracy with Republican government. The latter involves a balance of power so that no one man, political party, or branch of government has dictatorial power and that rule of law prevails. Democracy in its pure form is just rule by a mindless mob, or rather by demagogues who know how to manipulate mob opinion.

A Constitutional Monarchy (where the power of the monarch is limited by parliament and courts) is a more benevolent system of government than a "democracy". The more prescient founding fathers wanted to establish a the equivalent of the British constitutional monarchy but with an (indirectly) elected rather than hereditary executive.

Its why America needs radical de-centralization

especially since the rise of progressivism, and funded by printed money and massive debt, federal government, centered in DC, has grown to be a massive part of the economy, and to have a hand in literally every part of American life and civil society.
