A few short years after it ended, MTM starred in her own sitcom playing a 'liberated' feminist 30-year-old single surrounded by other raging feminists, barely held back by the conservative men in the show, who were often depicted as buffoons. Mary Richards never married, was tacitly promiscuous, and was often bitter about the whole thing. It was highly popular, but I don't know why. The subject matter was often hopeless.
