Nancy Grace Roman uses the telescope at Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, WI in 1948. Famous astronomers Edwin Hubble and Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar also studied at Yerkes.

The headline baffled me for a moment . I thought of that awful TeeVee woman had something to do with a Roman telescope.

The Yerkes observatory still has the largest refracting telescope anywhere (40 inches in diameter). It isn’t practical to build larger refracting telescopes.
