A man was arrested Monday after "joking" that he had a bomb in his bag while boarding a flight to Cuba at Miami International Airport, authorities said.
The incident happened as the suspect, 33-year-old Yoel Guevara-Crespo, was boarding American Airlines flight AA1319 to Camaguey, Cuba, at 11:45 a.m., according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO).
The arrest report details that when the ticket counter agent asked Guevara-Crespo "the standard security questions" about whether he possessed lithium batteries or incendiary devices, he allegedly responded, "No, but I have a bomb."
The agent told Guevara-Crespo that he could not fly and that she would have to contact her supervisor, according to the arrest report. The suspect said he was "joking."
Deputies were dispatched to the gate and took Guevara-Crespo into custody without incident, MDSO said. A K9 checked his luggage and returned "negative results."
The airline was allowed to resume normal operations.
Guevara-Crespo was taken to the airport station for an interview and gave a full confession, authorities said. He was arrested and taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Good one.
(Talk about stupid.)
Yeah
After 9/11 we were flying home from Portland where they had National Guard fully armed, standing on mats. My then 2 year old daughter and I got pulled for a screening and my wife got upset. While we were walking away, she said did they think a two year old had a bomb and I told her it was two minutes & it was over. She said it again and I looked at her and told her to STFU, which she did. Said if you think 2 minutes was an inconvenience, what would 4 hours in a room being interviewed with 3 kids would do for her.
Hahahahaha, no kidding!!!!
I stopped at a gas station one afternoon, I really had to go. Badly. There was someone in the restroom, and as I patiently waited, minute after minute, five minutes, ten minutes, I was feeling my back teeth float.
I was commiserating with a truck driver who stood in line behind me, wondering with some degree of foreboding, what that guy was doing in there that long, when the door opened, and a big, slovenly looking guy with greasy, stringy hair, a five day old growth of beard on his face, and wearing black flannel pajama bottoms with orange jack-o-lanterns on them came out.
His eyes met mine as he passed, and his brow furrowed ever so slightly, and his head went nearly imperceptibly from side to side in a veiled yet unmistakable warning that said “I wouldn’t go in there if I were you!”
