I know it is on the coast of Turkiye, but it reminds me a lot of the excavation of Caesaria in Israel. Herod built the port there for the Romans, but the whole city was buried for millenia. I have walked the hippodrome and sat in the Coliseum many times, although I have not excavated there. Interestingly enough, they were using underwater concrete there during Herod’s day (an early form of it).
