He did a voice analysis of Geddy Lee’s singing from their recent live performance at the Juno awards. Pretty interesting how he puts up the waveforms of the tone and stuff and explains things.
I didn’t realize how much artists use autotune now in their recordings, and even for their live performances!
Yes, sometimes use of autotune was fairly obvious to me, but, sometimes not, until I watched several of Fil’s (Pegasus) vids. Curiously, the correlation between artists I don’t like all that well and those who use autotune is pretty strong, but I can’t really explain that in the cases where I didn’t originally realize autotune was in play. It seems to go with the artist’s overall approach to music, I think?
What’s really scary is how bad David Lee Roth sounds now even WITH all these tools at his disposal.
