"I visited Piddington in Oxfordshire, a village that is planning a referendum on becoming independent from the United Kingdom and could potentially then ask to join the United States.
The move is in response to a British government proposal to house 1,200 asylum seekers at a former military base on the outskirts of the village of 350 people. I spoke to parish council chair Tim McNally and other villagers about their plans and how joining the USA could change Piddington. If you're American please let me know what you think in the comments!"
They will only be TEMPORARILY housed at the base. Once the home office finds a rental in any other small town they move them in to .permanent housing. No village is safe. Wales, Isla of Mann, Scotland. The “home office” is spreading them through every village in the kingdom like a skid mark. Every BnB, hotel, available house. All being bought up and leased to place rapefugees on welfare.
Close to 50% of the United Kingdom votes Socialist!
Gain independence and stop there. You don’t want our immigration problems.
Even if the village of Piddington was serious about becoming a property of the USA, the EU would never let it happen. They would use the same tactic that worked vs Brexit, keep the upstart in the courtroom, reacting to various penalties and fees on top of unpaid fees.
Lather, rinse, repeat until your opposition has simply run out of public funding or invented taxation. In other words, Lawfare, as we now understand it here in the states.
If our Canadian friends in Alberta want to declare independence, this technique will be used on them too.
I agree that the EU would not like it if Piddlington voted to become independent or even a US territory. But what legal issues do you think the EU would be able to raise? Britain is no longer part of the EU.
UK on the other hand...
The rats would probably like it, they’d give them 2 senators, congressional scum, wads of cash just like they said they would do to other territories like Puerto Rico if they got in charge.
Sorry! Piddington it should be.
They are not nuts.
They are evil.
And revel in it.
No, this is not a bad idea. The US should accept as colonies all the still sane enclaves of the UK. The irony alone would be worth it.
In some ways, that is a distinction without a difference.
England will continue being effected by the EU, since so many of their neighboring countries, such as France, remain a part of the EU. Wherever France exists, their failed border policies will follow.
