Nigel Farage was under fire for receiving an unconditional £5 million personal gift from Thailand-based cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne.

Farage has given multiple explanations for the money, asserting it was a private matter unrelated to politics.
He maintained the money was an unconditional personal gift that he is free to spend however he chooses, denying it was linked to any political ambitions or party funding.
The payment, made in early 2024 shortly before Farage decided to run for Parliament in Clacton, triggered an investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner over whether he failed to properly declare a relevant benefit received prior to becoming an MP.
