A Texas high school teacher was reduced to tears and broke down in front of his class when he realized the seniors he was teaching couldn’t complete a writing exercise.
Darius Williams, a teacher for Houston Independent School District’s Wheatley High School, said he couldn’t get through the first class of the second day of school before his students’ poor literacy skills were too much for him.
“I just finished a three-hour class, and I literally broke down in the middle of class,” Williams said in an Instagram video during his lunch break on Tuesday. Williams, a New Education System (NES) Career and Technical Education (CTE) staffer, said he gave his class full of seniors two paragraphs to read and asked them to complete another sentence he had practically filled out for them, but was left stunned when they couldn’t finish the task.
“I basically completed the sentence for them, he said. “These are 17- and 18-year-old kids, and they couldn’t fill in four words. Four words!” exclaimed Williams.
“I gave them the scenario, we annotated together. I gave them the answers before we even had the problem and they couldn’t do it. I don’t know I simply don’t know where the problem is,” he said frustratingly.
“This is only day two, and I have seniors who simply cannot read and seniors who cannot write. They cannot write,” Williams cried out.
“Our young black men, our young brown men, our young black girls, and our young brown girls,” Williams said as he began to sob before ending the video.

"Williams faced backlash after posting the video as critics called out the teacher’s qualifications to be able to speak about his students’ literacy troubles."

Typical, criticize anything black or hispanic and YOU get attacked for doing so. SMH
How many White teachers knew this but remained silent for fear of reprisals?

Fear of reprisals?
People need to learn what Trump is portraying
There’s a difference between fear and no leverage.
This post on X does not shock me at all.
A link in the comments from that X post took me to what was really sickening.

Learing to reed and rite is racist.
Paywall
This is terrifying. And they keep pushing them forward, get them in an HBCU and give them HUGE loans that they can never afford to pay.

Ah yes, let us shoot the messenger. That'll fix it.
There is a little icon up by the search bar that looks like a book page. If you click on that, you can read it.
I don’t pay for CNN. But I can see why they put it behind a pay wall.
“a New Education System (NES) Career and Technical Education (CTE)”
Here is your problem. And it’s by design, no doubt. What was wrong with the old system? It worked.
Yep. If this guy was White his teaching credentials in Texas would more than likely be in jeopardy.
“How many White teachers knew this but remained silent for fear of reprisals?”
I suspect most White public school teachers are PERFECTLY FINE with graduating dumb students as they are LEFTISTS* and they understand that the two goals here are:
1. They feel America is FAR TOO WEALTHY and needs to brought down a few notches, and what better way than graduating dumb kids.
2. They support dumbing-down as it means those kids will NEVER be successful in life and thus will always be DEMOCRATS.
*yes, even in Red States, even in Red Towns - they are NOT your friends, EVER - you people, and you know who are, are IDIOTS for subjecting your kids to these monsters.
Got it. Thanks.
This is being done on purpose to create an idiocracy style permanent underclass that is easily manipulated.
The rules teachers and schools operate under are purposely designed to that end.
But most of them have already been chosen to play for major sports teams. They have agents who can read them their contracts and then sign them.
Literacy is literally white supremacy. ;^)
Agreed. Having gone through the public school system in my north Florida County in the 70s it was still a good quality pre college education that prepared students FOR AT LEAST junior college.
Somewhere along the line public schools have devolved into liberal indoctrination centers....or in this case babysitting services.
Pretty soon they’ll be offering them extended-term low-rate mortgages for below ground dwellings.
Literal Morlocks.
Ask not for whom the Bell Curve tolls...
How can illiterate high school “graduates” have a chance in life? It’s a national disgrace !
When I was at college four decades ago, the institution was offering remedial English and math classes to students.
This has been going on for a very long time.
