I've been in this officers shoes... There is no "winning" for an officer in this situation. He's going to get jacked up even if he handled everything perfectly, because most of the upper echelons in police departments today have a factor to take into consideration that didn't exist 20-30 years ago. That is the "appearance factor." An agency now will write up an officer for overstepping authority (even when he has not done so) simply because they feel it is in the best interest of their relationship with the community. In other words, they will often sacrifice a good officer's reputation just to stay off of the "racist police department list." To me, it's the equivalent of buying the fat spoiled brat a candy bar every time he pitches a fit in the checkout line at the grocery store. He learns what he must do each time he doesn't get his way.

I've dealt with groups just like the one mentioned in this story. Consider the source material. Is it biased? Consider how they would present the story, keeping in mind that controversy and racism stories sell copy. Look at the published and confirmed policy of the restaurant and then look at what this group of "respected and well educated" women did. By their own admission, they went against the rules. When the management said "no", the group lost their temper, most likely after acting insulted, which then turned to indignance, and progressed to loud and animated anger. I've seen it numerous times. Unfortunately, the group is almost always of the same makeup - certainly disproportionate to their percentage of the total population. I'm not trying to be ugly about this, but stereo-typing doesn't just happen out of the blue. It isn't the best way to think, but it is rooted somewhere in the reality that people witness every day.

So yes, Boo Boo, it's them again. And until their own community starts calling them out for their behavior, it's not going to get any better.

Except… the women in the group did play the race card. And that was crappy racist garbage by them.

I’m talking about the pejorative comments by posters.
