We can complain but nobody listens. I write letters, send emails. I get stock/party-line/publicity-style responses if I get a reply at all. They have their marching orders and nobody will step out of line.
When a govt pretends to respond though doesn't give a flitter what their citizens think - the future is seriously darkening. It is difficult for me to believe that Canadians really voted for a non-Canadian to rule their lives.
We were similarly approaching that condition during the Autopen Admin. Fortunately there was a group of people who were willing to step beyond the 'norm' to take corrective measures; may that always be true for us.
Aw, C’mon LL, you forget your most effective attention-getting technique. You hit their office wearing your blinky light, stompy foot, bell ringing shoes. They might fit you up with a jacket but you WILL get their attention.
Not everyone can use my go-to method of getting the attention of a slow-acting bureaucrat but if being polite fails I just slug a desk. Gets me a meeting with the top floor every time. Years ago my second method was to start a recall effort and it seems there’s still a bit of fear around that it could happen again.
It’s disgusting when gummint types think they don’t have to respond to straight forward, questions, suggestions,requests, etc. And I’ve noticed over the years that their first rule seems to be don’t embarrass the boss.
