I think they should be forced to meet their promises or get “cancelled”.

The tech companies sell advertising.

Which industry sectors are more important?

I didn’t know data centers could solely run on windmills.

Or are they just planning on adding power for themselves and achieve zero but subtracting the complementary amount from us?

Big Tech being on the path to Net Zero is like soda bragging about being gluten-free. Its easy to meet a goal that you already meet because your industry doesn’t produce emissions like a traditional factory. But now factor in the immense amount of power that Big Tech will need to run AI and all the data centers they want built. And the vast amount of resources they will need. I think the Net Zero targets are quietly going to go away.
