Fox News should know better than this. Kamala Harris’s mother was from India, a Tamil iirc. Her father was from the Caribbean and, though he had dark skin, was a mix of everything. Kamala was raised by her mother in Canada after her parents divorced and only cosplayed as black to make her way in California democrat politics.
Malibu is small in population and quite varied in its residential mix, as it is basically a long ribbon along the PCH with the coastal mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Yes, there are mansions of the rich and famous. But a lot of it is 1950’s and 1960’s middle class sprawl development, pretty undistinguished architecturally but expensive because it’s California.
Malibu is in Los Angeles County but it’s outside the City of LA, which is probably a big part of its appeal now.
Wikipedia says Malibu is about 82 percent white. The black percentage is low because of all American ethnic groups, blacks seem to be the most inclined towards tribal clustering, and not just for income reasons. That’s less true for higher income black people, but it still seems to be a factor. The media’s obsession with inculcating paranoia among black people is a big part of it.
I’m sensitive to this subject because I moved to DC in ‘79 and have always lived on Capitol Hill. I’ve lived through the Capitol Hill gentrification miracle but back in the day, I used to joke about being the speck of salt in the pepper shaker. I developed a pretty thick hide on some subjects. People who jabber about preserving “historically black neighborhoods” in DC don’t realize until too late the ambush they are walking into. Even Anacostia used to be a working class white neighborhood — and it had racial covenants to keep black people out. Frederick Douglass won a landmark civil rights case to break the racial covenant and buy Cedar Hill, which is now an NPS site and well worth a visit next time you are in DC.
“The former vice president's new home sits in the exclusive Point Dume community, where Census data shows the population is roughly 94% White and 0.2% Black.”
I have been watching some of Adam Carolla’s videos on YouTube about Malibu. How hard the coastal commission is making it to rebuild ANY house on the oceanfront.
Basically, that any new house is going to spend at least $3MM just on the foundation and seawall.
He has been going to this one ocean front building site for about a year now and showing the progress. None of the other lots adjacent to it are showing ANY sign of being rebuilt.
Then he showed another house up in one of the canyons. Showing how ever though the house itself appears to be in okay shape it really needs extensive replacement of windows and doors because all the weather stripping melted during the fire. The smoke damage was also extensive.
Basically, the owner was fighting with their insurance company. Which means you need to hire an insurance adjuster to fight on your behalf.
So, ANY of the existing houses that were untouched by the fire are now worth a lot more.
