I think what Conservatives (and most Americans) want is Liberty.

Freedom is a natural state of being allowed to “move” through life without hindrances.

Liberty is the lack of hindrances imposed by the government.

Remember, Liberty is on our coins—not freedom.

Some people think they are the same thing; words that are interchangeable. They are not.

As a hardcore Conservative what I want more than most anything else is to be left alone, which is why I have developed a visceral dislike for leftists/liberals or whatever you choose to call people who feel compelled to get in your face and impose their values on everyone else.

You make a great distinction between “liberty” and “freedom”.

I would like to add that “freedom” without any constraints is for libertarians.

Conservatives see liberty as freedom, but with limited constraints, or laws that make for a civilized society. Liberals are control freaks wanting to persecute anyone who doesn’t agree with them.

I’m sure it’s a little more complicated than that, however.
