yes, people think prison is confinement to a cell 23 hours a day. at USP Leavenworth most inmates leave their cells for breakfast at 6 am and don’t have to return to it until 4pm count, then they don’t have to return to the cell until 9:30 pm. the work in the UNICOR factories, food service, rec jobs, cleaning and facilities. after 4 they go to rec, weights, music art classes, education degree work, most prison are just a small city within walls, not punishments.
