@RandPaul

If Anthony Fauci lies before Congress on Wednesday, as he did in previous hearings, his preemptive pardon won’t cover him.

HHS? That seems weird.

Why?

Fauci was Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) which is under HHS.

Another question. Will any dems show up?

Not that it’s going to happen, but couldn’t a state prosecutor theoretically bring some sort of charge against him?

Fauci was really stupid to write his diary on government computers.

Fauci is likely one of those stupid smart people that Bongino mentions from time to time. He likely knew his emails were getting backed up but was clueless on how his computers and file sharing drives were getting backed up.

Yes, contempt of congress, which literally could land in in detainment for as long as it takes to get him to testify.

However realistically the republican critters in the house and senate do not have the testosterone to actually do the right thing and enforce it.

Oh, misread the state part, I was referring to what either house can do. Not sure if a state prosecutor can do anything unless he lies under oath at this point.

No, I meant a state bringing charges for things done during Covid. A presidential pardon didn’t get you off the hook for violating state laws.

He doesn’t have to remember, he just has to confirm or deny what he wrote, this testimony is much less dependent on his memory. He literally wrote out his lies. He cannot avoid them with a lack of memory as they are written down in an official record no less.

I’m only suggesting this as an argument for Fauci to plead the fifth. He likely conferred with various state health officials during Covid and there may be some “you can’t yell fire in a crowded movie theater” statute that could conceivably apply. It’s not legit of course but the Dems created the threat by stretching laws way beyond their intent to prosecute Trump.

...tomorrow will be more Kabuki theater.

Fauci, Mr. Science, will not be charged or held responsible for anything.

So tired of corrupt, lying criminal politicians, bureaucrats and elites not being held accountable for crimes like: treason, sedition, slander, libel, lying under oath, election fraud ......

For Pete's sake, we have communists (DSA) running for government who are calling for the replacement of our Constitution/government --- these people should have been immediately arrested for sedition and if they are naturalized citizens - had their citizenship.

I would like the USSC to weigh in on preemptive pardons for non-specific crimes. It makes sense that you can pardon someone of a specific crime so he could be forced to testify, but preemptive blanket pardons seem to violate the spirit of a pardon.

The pardon power really needs to be reined in. It is a vestige of royalty and has no good balance in our system. At the very least, congress should be able to overrule a pardon. I am not holding out hope for an amendment though.

Fauci is a pretty good talker. It’s hard for me to say how much of it is truth, but there’s a lot of controversy yet, considering all the damage this COVID thing has done. I was doing fine until it hit me & there’s a lot I couldn’t talk about if I wanted to as I was apparently completely unconscious for my first few days in the hospital. So I knew (& still know) nothing of what went on during that time. Alot has happened since.

From what I understand, he can’t use the 5th amendment.

I don’t think a Bidet pardon extends to state charges. Under that ruse, the a hole can claim he could face state charges.

Off topic, but are you aware that one of your “heroes”, Massie joined Dems in effort to sue Trump over Iran?

“””I don’t think a Bidet pardon extends to state charges. Under that ruse, the a hole can claim he could face state charges.”””

I noticed my state vs federal inaccuracy after I posted it. No way to edit here. But I do have a valid and legal defense of my inaccurate post. I had not consumed any caffeine yet.

He is a good talker when softballs are getting lobbed his way. I suspect a few hardballs will be tossed his way.
