Even worse pronoun usage comes from the article. It says
“Four teenagers were killed when a car hit a parked train “
A car. Just a random car? Yikes.
It’s correct to write that the car hit the train. The driver caused the car to hit the train. The driver and passengers hit the inside of the car and each other. Of course, at that speed they may have flown from the car and hit the train as well.
That sentence makes it sound like the kids were on the train when they were killed.
