You’ll notice the article didn’t say what type of visa. It was actually an employer-sponsored work visa. Under U.S. immigration law, you are generally granted a grace period of up to 60 days (or until the end of your authorized visa validity period, whichever is shorter) after your employment ends. His ended 10 years ago when he left the colts.
