isn't there a process to remove thune as majority leader & senate parliamentarian, too That would probably require the cooperation of a lot of senate Democrats, and they know that Thune is a better asset to them.

5 GOP Senators move to debate new majority leader. Then a majority of GOP Senators vote to replace him. So 27 GOP Senators hold the power to replace him. Get er done.

I believe a simple majority of Republicans, in this case 27, can remove the Republican majority leader.
