The $450 million Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library opened its doors on July 4th. And for the first time, a major institution went accurate about who Roosevelt really was. Glenn Beck says that's actually the problem. Because when you read what TR wrote in his own hand — to Charles Davenport at Cold Spring Harbor on January 3rd, 1913 — the museum isn't making Roosevelt look like a progressive. Roosevelt was a progressive. And that's what the exhibit is hiding.
That's because of “progress.” Beck is entirely correct in looking at the principles operating the engine that is running the now-runaway progressive movement.
The principles were laid out by Marx in the Communist Manifesto. It’s an easy read. And you can lay it over the economic and political conditions of today.
Change out the “industrialists” for “the tech bros” and you can see where it would attractive to people who want to blame the rich for their problems.
Theodore Roosevelt is the reason we have the 16th amendment.
The only real difference is he was a progressive who put America First, instead of a Progressive who was more concerned with ruling the world.
It is a travesty to say the 16th Amendment puts America First.
It is a matter of degree. He put America First more than Woodrow Wilson did.
By that measure how do we stack up Obama?
Anybody can be said to be America First if we simply give everybody participation trophies.
The point is, the 16th Amendment alone is enough to revoke Teddy’s participation trophy.
