Nothing beats summer baseball.

MLB paid homage to the iconic fireworks scene from “The Sandlot” by recreating the masterpiece at Citizens Bank Park during the All-Star Game.

The recreated spectacle started with the playing of Ray Charles’ famous “America the Beautiful” for the entire Philadelphia crowd before children in Phillies jerseys peeked through a gate in the fence along the right field foul line.

Excellent show except for the two women who sang....horrible!!!!! I think there was another one but before I found the game on TV...lucky me. The one in the red dress was the WORST!!! There “oughta” be a law - LOL I’d take listening to Roseanne Barr any day over those two....

I ignored the propaganda stuff sounded like an advertisement and it has some weird religious sounding like the word “permanence” as opposed to nostalgia. Reminds me of the “Olympic Movement” crap. Ray Charles was great. The kids on bikes was interesting as i did not make the connection to the movie. And the guy with the Harper shirt was hanging out with Marsh.

I do that for most of the SSB singers. They all suck.

I thought I was prepared but they were worse than I thought they would be... Very rare to hear the National Anthem the way it was meant to be sing/sang/sung (pick one)....they might try learning to read music and perhaps then they’d understand the way the tune was written....can’t improve on the original.

Patty LaBelle wasn’t AS bad but I could do without her also..and the WARDROBE! Gotta have attention..almost like “close your eyes, open the closet door, pick something), dress and GO!!

Field Of Dreams...
James Earl Jones:

People will come, Ray.
They’ll come to Iowa for reasons they can’t even fathom.
They’ll turn up your driveway,
not knowing for sure why they’re doing it.
They’ll arrive at your door as innocent as children,
longing for the past.

“Of course, we won’t mind if you look around,” you’ll say.
“It’s only twenty dollars per person.”
They’ll pass over the money without even thinking about it.
For it is money they have and peace they lack.

And they’ll walk out to the bleachers,
and sit in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon.
They’ll find they have reserved seats
somewhere along one of the baselines,
where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes.
And they’ll watch the game,
and it’ll be as if they’d dipped themselves in magic waters.
The memories will be so thick,
they’ll have to brush them away from their faces.

People will come, Ray.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball.
America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers.
It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again.
But baseball has marked the time.
This field, this game — it’s a part of our past, Ray.
It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again.

Ohhhhhhhh, people will come, Ray.
People will most definitely come.
