Conservatives should know that there is a distinct group of Jews who are very conservative politically. The simple fact is that conservatism aligns very well with Orthodox Judaism. Conceptually, Orthodox Judaism also seeks to conserve bedrock principles and values. It disdains immorality, falsehood and tyranny. I have been a solid conservative since I first subscribed to WFBjr’s National Review (not the current pusillanimous version) in the 80’s. We are a very rapidly growing demographic part of the “Jewish vote”.
Jews who discarded their traditional faith or were born into de-Judaized families still had the burning Jewish passion for ideals. So they adopted a new religion: liberalism. It makes them feel wonderfully idealistic without all that troublesome Kosher, Sabbath and Purity laws. It had the added benefit of making them feel loved by others.
Now comes along the red-green alliance and woe unto the Jewish liberals who are now hated regardless.
Conservatives know about republican voting Jews and even some conservative jews, but the discussions are usually about the overall Jewish vote and Jewish power and influence, and there isn’t a reason to get off into sub groups, or how polling in Israel is going during a presidential election, it is mildly interesting to know, but not the topic of the bigger discussion.
