The red card didn’t come after the game. It was issued after the VAR review in the second half. When the ref looked at the slowed down motion/stills of the play, he issued a red card. Balogan was looking away when he was landing, so it wasn’t intentional at all. The worst it should’ve been was a yellow card.

Thank you. I looked at some videos of it and discussions. Someone posted a similar thing with Messi scraping the other player but was looking in that direction. No foul. I get that there are lots of things that are never called, or depend on the refs, the game, etc. But it seems like the slow-mo review should be taken with a grain of salt.

I like to watch High School hockey. Early on in the season the refs will call lots of fouls - trying to set the tone for the kids for the season. Come play-offs they are more apt to let them play.
