I can understand the good it will do as an underwater reef, but it still seems a shame that it possibly could have been restored and this goes back many years when it was just sitting at a dock in Philadelphia.

I worked with a radio officer on a merchant ship who had family money. He and a group of investors were serious about selling the cabins as condos and bring back the sea-going capabilities of the ship.
From previous threads from several knowledgeable people, there was a lot of infights over the ship between the trustees and other parties and within the trustees themselves.
